In the paragraphs bellow I explain the biggest difference between completely Ketogenic and a simple HFLC Lifestyles.
I share the knowledge I have and I do not encourage you to do anything. So let me start…
….When going low carb, but still consuming some starches even in smaller amounts the body still relies on glucose as primary energy source, which is not a bad thing as long as the dieter feels great and he or she is satisfied with the results. When there are carbs available in the body

it always prefers to burn them first in order to keep the stored fat for times of starvation, food deprivation or even cataclysms. This is simply they way it works. Glucose is more like rocket fuel and it can be addiction forming. A lot of people promote the statement that consumption of certain amounts of carbs will not affect the fat burning as long as they are very low and combined will higher fat intake.
Actually this is not true. In fact if there are starches in the diet it really doesn’t matter how high the fat intake is, the body will always use the carbs first. It will never be able to use the fats effectively, because it prefers to store and keep them for later. This is called glucose or sugar burning mode, which is also a fat storing mode. In order to tap to it’s own fat stores for fuel the body needs to go trough a process of adaptation. This process is based on couple key stages. The first one is called glucose or glycogen depletion and it is a phase where all of the available sugar is used in order to reach the point when there are no more carb based fuel available in the body.
At this stage the body understands there is no more energy coming from carbs, so after few days it switches from sugar to fat burning mode. This mode is called Ketogenesis or State of Nutritional Ketosis.
In this state body breaks down and mobilizes fatty acids for the production of Ketone Bodies.
They are the most essential units of available energy for the humans body. In other words this is the best and only way for the body to produce it’s own energy. Ketone body can be manufactured either from the individual’s already stored fat or the dietary fat in the food he or she consumes. In order reach the point of effective ketone body usage, there must be virtually no carbohydrates available. Which means the individual should consume an almost Carb Free Diet, which is also High in Fat. This type of diet is call Keto or Ketogenic Diet.
Many people promote the statement that ketone bodies are the alternative fuel, but truth to be told it is the opposite, because in the body there are essential fatty and animo acids while there is no such thing as essential carbohydrates.
On this type of diet each and every gram of carb counts. In order to keeps his or her body in ketosis, the dieter typically aim to not exceed the amount of 30gr of carbs per day. Those carbs should come mostly from fiber. The best sources of this type of carbs are green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and avocados (which are really high in fats as well). But all this varies for each and every individual, his or her lifestyle genetics and etc. For example some people can tolerate a bit higher carb consumption and not getting out of Keto while others don’t. This is called carb sensitivity. Some people can tolerate Dairy and do really well when incorporate foods like FULL FAT Sour Cream, Half&Half or even some cheeses.
The Difference between LC or HFLC and The Straight Keto diet is the type of fuel that is used as primary energy source. A lot of Paleo protocols tolerate the consumption of relatively high in carbs but also very nutritious foods such as Tomatoes, Carrots, Onions and even the so called Safe Starches (Arsenic Free With Rices and Sweet Potatoes / Yams), because of their “toxins free’’ Consistency. BUT Incorporating few or all of those Healthy or Not all of those foods in someone’s diet will definitely have a negative impact on any keto adaptation and will immediately stop the fat burning process while kicking the dieter out of ketosis.
Good or Bad | Healthy or Not Healthy…
In the end of the day HFLC or LC Diets are not necessary the same thing such as Ketogenic Lifestyles. Even though they might be in certain situations, not every Low Carb diet is capable to produce an environment for effective and sustainable Nutritional State of Ketosis and Not every Keto protocol works great or is a permanent solution for everybody.
KETO, PALEO, HFLC each and every one of these protocols needs to be customized different accordingly to the particular individual and his or her needs. This is the only way to extract the most of the benefits and reach the best possible results…
Hope I explained it…

Till next time
Yours Truly.
